Hendrix Players Present Pair of Chekhov Plays

CONWAY, Ark. (January 18, 2013) - The Hendrix Players will present Anton Chekhov's The Bear and The Proposal Friday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Staples Auditorium.

In The Bear, a creditor falls for a young widow when she challenges him to a duel. In The Proposal, landowners let their pride get the best of them when trying to arrange a marriage proposal.

Anton Chekhov (1860-1904), a Russian physician, dramatist, and author, is considered to be among the greatest dramatists and short story writers in history. He practiced medicine throughout most of his literary career, claiming, "Medicine is my lawful wife, and literature is my mistress."
