Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer (CCO)
As Chief Communications Officer, Mr. Cox directs all communications,
marketing, public relations and brand management activities for the college.
A 1976 graduate of Hendrix, Cox owned his own marketing communications consulting
company in Little Rock before joining the Hendrix Senior Leadership Team.
Prior to that, he spent 30 years in the advertising, public relations and
media business, including an 8-year term as President and CEO of the Cranford
Johnson Robinson Woods agency, based in Little Rock. Cox was named Advertising
Person of the Year in 1997 by the Arkansas Advertising Federation and he
has served on numerous boards in Central Arkansas, including Hendrix College’s
Board of Trustees, Women & Children First, Methodist Family Health Foundation,
St. Vincent Health System Foundation, the Little Rock Public Education Foundation
and Riverfest. He also served on the Executive Committee of the Greater
Little Rock Chamber of Commerce.
Helen S. Plotkin
Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Marketing
Helen S. Plotkin joined the Hendrix staff in 1995. She directs the College’s
communications efforts, including oversight of communications planning,
media relations, publications, Web content, and graphic identity, and serves
as editor of Hendrix Magazine. Helen came to Hendrix from the University
of Arkansas at Little Rock where she was managing editor for the Office
of Communications. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism at
Henderson State University and was employed at newspapers in Arkansas, Louisiana
and Texas for 13 years, including a stint “on loan” to USA Today
during the national newspaper’s early years.
Director of College Communications
Rob O’Connor, a 1995 Hendrix alumnus, is the Director of College Communications.
He develops college news and other content for the web site and social media,
as well as local, state, and national media. He also serves as managing
editor of Hendrix Magazine and is responsible for planning and
developing content for this publication. Prior to joining the Office of
Marketing Communications at Hendrix College, he worked for the Development
Office for five years as Director of Foundation Relations, where he was
responsible for developing funding proposals to philanthropic foundations,
identifying funding opportunities, and managing the College’s relationship
with funding organizations. Rob is a former print journalist and high school
social studies teacher. He has a master’s in professional and technical
writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Josh Daugherty, the Lead Designer, joined the Hendrix staff in 2008.
He serves primarily as the web designer for the college. Other roles include
serving as the art director for Hendrix Magazine, staff photographer,
videographer and overseer of the College’s presence on various social media
sites. Josh came to Hendrix immediately after graduating from the University
of Arkansas, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in art with an emphasis
in graphic design.
Communications & Design Specialist
Jared King, the Video and Multimedia Specialist, graduated from Hendrix
as an undergraduate in Business and Economics in 2011 and from the graduate
program in Accounting in 2012. He serves as the primary videographer and
editor, creating video content for various departments as well as on-campus
organizations. He is the videographer and editor for on-campus series such
as the Hendrix Club Scene and Faculty Faces.
Communications & Design Specialist
Ephraim McNair graduated from Western Michigan University with a BFA
in Graphic Design in 2008. As Communications & Design Specialist since
2012, he assists the Office of Marketing Communications with brand management
activities: designing and coordinating production of a wide variety of printed
collateral for the college. He applies a keen eye for design and an ability
to solve complex communication problems to every project. Prior to joining
Hendrix, he worked for 3 years at a small marketing & design firm in
Little Rock honing his skills on a multitude of creative projects in a wide
variety of industries.
Vicky Piccola joined the Hendrix staff in 2011 as Administrative Assistant
for the Office of Marketing Communications. The Dallas native brings more
than 20 years' experience in office administration, including working at
educational institutions and at a large advertising agency in Texas. She
uses her organizational and interpersonal communication skills to manage
the office schedule and budget, supervise student workers, prepare reports,
maintain records and provide direct support for the Executive Vice President
and Associate Vice President.
