Ruanda McFerren

Ruanda McFerren Ruanda McFerren, Assistant Director of Admission, is a 2011 graduate of Hendrix, earning a degree in American Studies and a minor in Sociology.  While she was a student, Ruanda was very involved in the Student Senate, holding the positions of Raney Hall Senator, Junior Class Senator, and Academic Policy Representative.  Additionally, Ruanda spent a year serving as one of the student representatives to the faulty Committee on Curriculum and a summer abroad in Oxford, England.

Throughout her time as a student, Ruanda began to cultivate her interests in housing, community development, and urban society.  She participated in Spring Break builds with Habitat for Humanity in Laredo, Texas and Florence, Alabama.  During her sophomore year, she also participated in the Miller Center mission trip to serve the homeless in San Francisco.

When not in the office, Ruanda enjoys reading, experimenting in the kitchen, exploring the many wonders of the Natural State (that’s Arkansas!), and spending time with the great friends that she made as a Hendrix student.  Deeply interested in Southern culture, Ruanda is a lifelong Arkansan and Fort Smith native.
