For the Parents

Greetings from Hendrix College!  Your child is about to go on a life-changing journey.  This is an exciting and often nervous time for both you and your child.  Hendrix College’s Office of Multicultural and International Student Services is here to welcome international students, smoothen their transition to life on campus as well as ensure their success as Hendrix students.

The Office of Multicultural and International Student Services (MISS) provides students with opportunities to engage in cross-cultural reflection and promotes an appreciation of diversity, service, and leadership.

The services that the office provides range in scope from student programming activities, diversity training and leadership training to support.  The office also provides assistance to our international and exchange students through orientation, advising, and outreach to foster a positive educational and personal experience for each student.  Hendrix College is committed to the principle that diversity in the student body enhances the intellectual experience and understanding of the entire community.  Click here to visit the MISS website.

Health Concerns

Hendrix College provides on-campus health services to the student body.  Services are provided by an advanced practice nurse (APN) in collaboration with a local physician.  The APN provides basic medical assessment and treatment for minor illnesses, physician referral services, and many other student health services.  Students who require services beyond the scope of the clinic will be referred to a local physician.  This includes management of moderate to severe illnesses, radiology, and advanced laboratory services.

Health Insurance Requirement

All Hendrix College students are required to have health insurance through a family employee plan, a private insurer, or through a quality, low-cost plan offered by the college.  The school plan, Student Assist, is serviced and underwritten by Markel Insurance Company.  Students have the opportunity to demonstrate adequate health coverage or must purchase the college plan.  The annual cost of the plan is $500 and will be posted to your student account.  Click here to review last year's plan brochure and the online waiver/accept form.  Information for the 2011-12 academic year will be posted soon.
