Facilities

Fitness Center:  This 7,000 square foot room is the focal point for those wanting to improve their fitness level. The cardiovascular area includes treadmills, elliptical trainers, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, rowing machines and a stepmill.

  • The Fitness center is also home to a complete line of selectorized strength training equipment and free weights.
  • Indoor Track: The 3-lane track requires walkers to accumulate 14 laps in order to traverse one mile if using the inside lane. Joggers using the outside lane will need to go 12 laps to cover one mile.

Movement Studio: The Movement Studio, located on the second floor, is the showcase for the majority of group exercise classes. Check out the “Group Exercise “ link for more details!

Gymnasiums: The WAC features a competition gym and a recreation gym that will be headquarters for varsity basketball and volleyball in addition to intramural sports and a wide variety of Kinesiology activity classes. The event gym has room for 1,100 spectators that can enjoy Warrior action while sitting in theatre-style seats.

Climbing Wall: With a 46’ wide base and 26’ in height, the wall is big enough to accommodate 8 climbers at a time. Training in belaying is required for all users of the climbing wall. Hours of operation are subject to staffing. For more information, contact the Control Desk at 505-2966..

Aquatic Center: The Aquatic Center is highlighted by an 8-lane 25 yard x 25 meter pool and a diving area. The pool utilizes a high-tech “rim flow” system that decreases wave activity and creates a faster swim environment. WAC members and guests can also enjoy the sun porch that is located on the south end of the center and a retractable roof that allows fresh air to be circulated throughout the pool area.

Outdoor Track/ Field Hockey / Lacrosse & Soccer  Field:  Located just east of the main WAC building, the track is composed of 8 lanes and requires walkers and joggers  to travel 4 laps around the inside lane in order to accumulate one mile of distance. Track users will need to bring their WAC ID card with them in order to use the track and the turf field.

Tennis:  Hendrix has five outdoor courts and four indoor courts. Outdoor courts are free and are available on a first come first serve basis, while the indoor courts require a reservation. Hendrix students, faculty and staff, and WAC members will not be assessed a court fee for indoor tennis.

Priority of Usage Guidelines

The primary mission of the Wellness and Athletics Center is to enhance the health, wellness and the overall collegiate experience of Hendrix students, faculty and staff. The use of the WAC for academic purposes will have top priority over other groups and organizations such as athletics, intramurals, outdoor recreation and club sports. All Hendrix-sponsored activities that are sponsored by campus organizations will have priority over usage by Hendrix alumni, retirees and community members.
