  • Update 1/28/2026

Campus will be open Thursday, January 29, with modified operations. We appreciate everyone’s continued flexibility as we work to maintain continuity across campus.

    Inclement Weather Policy
For faculty and staff, please refer to the Inclement Weather Policy detailed at the bottom of the Hendrix.edu/weather webpage. Contact your direct supervisor with any questions.

    Classes
Faculty are encouraged to use their professional judgment regarding instructional modality. Some instructors may choose to offer remote (asynchronous or synchronous) instruction if travel conditions make in-person teaching impractical.
Students should continue to check their email and course sites for messages from instructors regarding how each course will meet.

    Grounds
Facilities will continue treating sidewalks and walking surfaces as needed.

    Facilities and Building Issues
If you experience any building-related issues such as power outages, leaks, heating concerns, or other facility needs, please report them promptly to Facilities using this form, or after hours by contacting Public Safety at 501-450-7711.

    Dining Services & The Caf
The Caf will be open during normal operating hours.

    Cold Weather Reminders
With continued low temperatures, please continue the following precautions:

    • Keep water dripping from faucets

    • Leave under-sink cabinets open

    • Ensure heat is running at no less than 60 degrees

These steps help prevent frozen or burst pipes.

The same plan will be in effect for Friday, January 30 unless otherwise indicated. We expect to return to normal operation Monday, February 2.

Inclement Weather Policy (from the 2025-26 catalog)

As a result of inclement weather, the College may alter its regular operations as follows:

    • Late opening/closing. Offices will operate at hours other than normal; classes will be held only within the announced time period for office operation.
    • Campus closed. Only essential administrative and staff personnel will be on campus. Offices will be closed, and classes will be cancelled.

     Classes

    • Classes will be cancelled if campus is closed (see Inclement Weather Policy above).
    • If campus is not closed, faculty will have the choice of whether to travel to campus and teach in person, remain at home and teach remotely, or cancel class. Faculty will notify their students about how they will proceed with their classes, especially if they will be teaching remotely or canceling class.

     Staff

    • For employees whose job does not allow you to work remotely, you must certainly use your own judgment in determining whether the conditions are safe enough for you to travel. If the decision is made to close, all employees who are scheduled to work will be paid for each day (or partial day) we are officially closed. If the College is open and you cannot make it to work remotely, you may choose to use a vacation day to get paid. However, no sick days will be authorized for use. Please note that if the College closes and you are on vacation status, your time will automatically be counted as vacation (i.e., you cannot change your status to save a vacation day if you had already scheduled vacation time).
    • There are some employees whose skills/duties will be required even if the College is closed. These employees are considered to be “essential staff.” If you are considered essential staff, your supervisor will have already addressed any requirements with you individually. Please do not hesitate to ask your supervisor if you are considered “essential staff.”

     Other

    • Please be aware of current conditions and use caution. If you need assistance from Hendrix Public Safety, call 501-450-7711.
