CONWAY,
Arkansas (March 19, 2024)—Hendrix Players will present two performances of the 2024
Hendrix Dance Ensemble Spring Concert: Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30
at 7 p.m. in Staples Auditorium (building 12 on the current campus
map). The concert is free and open to the public.
Reservations

The
concert is directed by Hendrix College Professor of Dance Brigitte Rogers and Visiting
Artist and Adjunct Professor of Dance Jennifer Maddox.
This
celebration of dance features pieces from an array of dance genres
choreographed by Professors Rogers and Maddox, as well as by current students. In
addition to the live performance pieces, videos of pieces choreographed by
alumni will be interspersed throughout the concert.
This
year’s concert is especially significant because it marks a homecoming for
Jennifer Maddox. Not only has she taught previously at Hendrix College, but she
also is the co-founder of the Hendrix Dance Ensemble.
Maddox
is recognized as a leading proponent of modern dance in Arkansas. She has
devoted much of her career to promoting and teaching the art of dance within
the state. She has taught numerous workshops around Arkansas for students,
educators, and professionals, and across the region for The American College
Dance Association Conferences. Maddox has been honored with The Arkansas Arts
Council Individual Artist Fellowship, recognizing her artistic ability in
choreography. She has received several grants from the Arkansas Arts Council,
including the New Visions Dance Project. Additionally, she was instrumental in Henderson
State University receiving the National Endowment of the Arts Choreography
Initiative Grant for Arkansas.
Maddox
retired as Instructor of Dance at Henderson State University, where she was dance
company director and faculty choreographer, and now volunteers for nonprofit
art organizations around Arkansas, including The Arkansas Dance Network. She is
currently Instructor of Dance at Ouachita Baptist University.
