Here is a Microsoft link that describes multi-factor authentication should you care to learn more about it. What is: Multifactor Authentication - Microsoft Support
To prepare for this, on your mobile phone you should go to your App or Play store and download the Microsoft Authenticator app (make sure and download the MICROSOFT Authenticator).

This is the preferred method to perform multifactor authentication.

NOTE: DO NOT sign in with your credentials! During this process, you will be asked to scan a QR code using the Microsoft Authenticator App. Please be sure to use the Authenticator App and not just your phone camera.
- After clicking next, following the prompts on the screen and input any information asked into the app. Once you have followed the instructions on the computer screen and your phone, it should be setup successfully.
