    The Miller Creative Quad

    The new Miller Creative Quad will combine first-class facilities for the creative arts with new student living space, energizing the core of the Hendrix campus.It will include two new residence halls, a new campus art museum, an auditorium and film screening room, and music practice and teaching spaces.

    Hendrix rises 20 spots in overall Forbes ranking

    The College also earned a Forbes Financial Grade of "A", and was once again listed above all other Arkansas colleges and universities in Forbes overall rankings. Hendrix continues to appear in Forbes' list of the top 200 best-loved colleges, coming in at #102.

    Murphy Scholars 2017

    Congrats to the newest Murphy Scholars!

    The new Murphy Scholars were formally inducted at a special ceremony Tuesday, October 17, in Reves Recital Hall. They joined the 20 inaugural Murphy Scholars named in 2015, and the 25 named in 2016.

    Poverty, Homelessness at Center of Student-Faculty Experience in D.C.

    In June ten Hendrix students began a service-learning trip to Washington, D.C. Sponsored by the Miller Center for Vocation, Ethics, and Calling, the week-long trip included hands-on work serving those experiencing poverty or homelessness, as well as learning how to carry out political advocacy for those in need.

    Inaugural Inaugural Mellon Scholar and Hendrix Alumnus Visits Campus

    Dr. GerShun Avilez '02, Hendrix College's inaugural Mellon Scholar, will present the lecture "Vanishing Acts: Black Labor, Social Absence, & Civil Rights Reform" on how literary culture takes up the question of civil rights reform in the 1960s.

    April 2017 Odyssey Grant Recipients

    Since the fall of 2005, more than 13,000 Odyssey projects have been completed by Hendrix students and the College has awarded more than $3.7 million dollars in funds.  These eclectic and immersive learning experiences are directly tied to Hendrix's motto of "Unto the Whole Person."  Hendrix College awarded $81,374.20 to 21 Odyssey projects in the April 2017 grant cycle.

    Watson Fellow Named Fulbright U.S. Award Winner

    Jessa Thurman '16 received a 2017-18 Fulbright to Australia and will represent the United States as a cultural ambassador while overseas, helping enhance mutual understanding between Americans and Australians. As a Watson Fellow, Thurman visited Australia, Thailand, Brazil, Peru, and the United Kingdom to pursue her project: "From Extermination to Appreciation: Ethnoentomology and Connecting to the World through Insects."

     

  • Champions, on and off the field

    Over the past three seasons six programs have won conference championships, earning automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament!  At the same time, our Warrior Athletic Department GPA remains strong, with numerous teams earning academic distinction from their respective coaching and sport associations.  Our students garnered SAA Player of the Year Awards, NCAA All-American Honors, All-Conference Awards, and over 200 SAA Academic Honor Roll Awards just last year.

Candidates for the Hays Memorial Scholarship are easy to spot in a crowd: curious, well-rounded leaders and scholars who exemplify the ideals of students who seek a liberal arts education.
