Well-known voice on religion and contemporary spirituality to
speak Monday, February 5

CONWAY, Arkansas (May 31, 2023)-
The Hendrix College Office of Religious Life will welcome Diana Butler Bass for
the 2024 Willson Lecture on February 5, 2024. The event begins at 7 p.m. and is
free and open to the public; the specific location on the Hendrix campus will
be shared this fall.
Bass is known for being one of
the nation’s most sound and trusted voices for religion and contemporary
spirituality. She has offered commentary on religious and spiritual issues
through a number of media outlets, including The
New York Times and CNN. She has written eleven books focusing on developments
in Christianity and received numerous awards for her writing, including the
Religion News Association’s Book of the Year award.
According to her website, “Diana’s
passion is sharing great ideas to change lives and the world—a passion that
ranges from informing the public about spiritual trends, challenging
conventional narratives about religious practice, entering the fray of social
media with spiritual wisdom and smart theology, and writing books to help
readers see themselves, their place in history, and God differently.” For more

Her lecture will take place in

The Willson Lectures were
established at Hendrix in 1956 with the goal of bringing outstanding speakers
to discuss spiritual values and vital issues confronting the world today. The
Willson Lectures were made possible through the generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Jim
Willson, who established lectureships at 23 United Methodist colleges
nationwide. Recent speakers have included Rev. Matt Rawle, Dr. Gregory C.
Ellison II, Dr. Gennifer Brooks, and Rev. Matt Miofsky.
