College named one of the nation’s “best and most
interesting”
CONWAY, Arkansas (July
11, 2023) — Hendrix College is one of 300 four-year colleges and universities
in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom featured in the Fiske
Guide to Colleges 2024.
Compiled by former New
York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske beginning in 1982, the guide is updated regularly by Fiske’s
editorial team and includes what it deems “the best and most interesting”
institutions in higher education. Each school is graded on a one
to five scale in three categories: academics, social life, and quality of life.
The guide spotlights
several aspects of the College’s academic program that stand out, including the
Odyssey Program and The Engaged Citizen and Explorations classes for first-year
students. Other campus highlights include the Miller Creative Quad and the
award-winning Dining Services, according to the guide.
“Personal
attention from faculty is the norm,” says the guide. “They are also able to
ignite a sense of curiosity and excitement for learning.” The small faculty-to-student
ratio at Hendrix is one of the main highlights.
