CONWAY, Ark. (November 6, 2024) – The Hendrix College Mock Trial Association recently attended the Missouri State Bear Brawl Classic Mock Trial Competition, competing in four rounds against schools across the country. Sophomores Helaina Ballis and Vic Welky both received Outstanding Witness awards for their performances at the competition.

“Hendrix Mock Trial Association is one of the best resources on campus for students who want to attend law school after Hendrix,” said Co-Captain Gracie Ross. “It’s an incredible way to build public speaking and critical thinking skills. Our team consistently wins awards at competitions, but most importantly, we learn a lot, and we have a lot of fun.”

Every year, the club receives a case book from the American Mock Trial Association, which is used to build cases, work with the Rules of Evidence, and develop trial advocacy skills. The club presents their case at two competitions yearly, with hopes of performing well enough at regionals to qualify for national competition.

They’re currently seeking passionate and hardworking students who are interested in law, sharpening their skills, and learning more about the legal system for their regional competition in February 2025. Students interested in joining or wanting more information can email rossgl@hendrix.edu.
