Conway institution retains solid national ranking for liberal
arts colleges, rises 15 spots for student mobility
CONWAY, Ark. (September 24, 2024) — Hendrix
College is once again ranked among the country’s top liberal arts colleges and
has risen 15 spots on the “Top Performers on Social Mobility” listings released
this morning as part of the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Colleges
rankings.
In addition to retaining a place among Best
National Liberal Arts Colleges (the highest ranked of the three colleges in Arkansas
to appear on the list at #114), Hendrix is tied for #154 on the social mobility
rankings because it enrolls — and sees through to graduation — a significant
proportion of students receiving Pell Grants. This year’s entering class
contained more than one-third Pell-eligible students (34%).
“At Hendrix, we know that a liberal arts
education is the best preparation for a life of accomplishment, integrity,
service, and joy,” said Hendrix College President Karen Petersen. “Seeing our
efforts recognized, particularly the work that happens to ensure that
Pell-eligible students receive the support they need to succeed, affirms our long-standing
commitment to each individual student and reflects the deeply personal
experience that is at the heart of our college.”
In addition to the U.S. News & World Report
2025 Best Colleges rankings, Hendrix is featured in the Fiske Guide to
Colleges, The Princeton Review, Washington Monthly’s College Guide, Niche.com,
College Raptor, and more.
Fall semester classes at Hendrix began on
Tuesday, August 27, with 340 new students from 15 states and multiple foreign countries resulting
in a 16% increase over last year’s entering class.
