Open Enrollment 2022

Open Enrollment for Benefits 1/1/2022 - 12/31/2022

This page is intended to provide basic information about the process of open enrollment, information regarding changes to our benefit offering, and basic information about popular benefits. If you have additional questions or need further assistance please contact hr@hendrix.edu or call 501-450-1494.

ALL full-time benefits eligible employees need to complete one of the open enrollment options by the close of business 12/3/2021, unless you have made other arrangements with the Human Resources Office.  Your timely completion of this process online is greatly appreciated to assist in the most accurate and efficient processing of your information possible as we prepare for annual transitions. TIP: Complete the online open enrollment process at a computer and NOT using a mobile device - it will be much easier for you that way.

At the bottom of this page you can choose to schedule an appointment with Bridgette Gray or Shawn Goicoechea. Either of us can assist you with open enrollment, but if you are retiring in 2022 and have Medicare questions you should schedule your appointment with Bridgette.

Completing Open Enrollment Online

Log-in to your self-service portal at  https://tpc.myisolved.com and click on the open enrollment link in the left-hand toolbar.  Once you are on the open-enrollment screens you will be asked to make an election for each benefit. Aside from the health insurance, you do not need to choose a waive reason if you are waiving coverage.  A few helpful notes: the next button is in the black bar across the top, and any forms needed for a new enrollment or adding additional coverage will be available in the "Messages" section in the lower right-hand corner. Finally, on the last page ("Review and submit") there is a button with pink text and a pink outline that reads "Submit benefit elections" - you must click that to finalize your submission.

We ask that all employees attempt to complete their open enrollment online. If you need assistance accessing iSolved (including password resets) or face a technical issue during the process please email hr@hendrix.edu with your question or issue. Once you have completed the process, if you have further questions or need to make changes that require HR involvement, please use the booking form at the bottom of this page to make an appointment (if you would like to consult on Teams please mention it in the note of your booking).  To be clear - even if you want to enroll in, change or drop a plan NOT accessible during the online process we would still like you to complete that process PRIOR to scheduling your appointment. That helps us greatly in tracking all benefits, and allows us to better assist you during your appointment.

What you CAN’T add, change or drop online, and will need an appointment for (after completing the online process for all other benefits):

  • Unum Long Term Care or Whole Life
  • Central United Cancer plans (new enrollments not available).
  • For these plan types you are assumed to be continuing coverage unless you otherwise notify us.

You can complete only the online process, and do not need an appointment or to contact us to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Let us know you’re continuing coverage as-is (simply select those coverages again when completing the process)
  • Set/change your FSA Medical and Dependent Childcare pre-tax deduction amounts.
  • Set/change your HSA contribution amount.
  • Add or change coverage for dental, vision, or health insurance.
  • Add voluntary life insurance or increase your life insurance.
  • Add short-term or long-term disability insurance, so long as you complete the evidence of insurability ("EOI) form in iSolved
  • Sign up for Symetra Accident or Symetra Critical Illness coverage.
  • Drop any benefit.
  • Change your tax withholding and direct deposit (you can do this anytime of the year, but in case you are interested that is also available in iSolved). Now is also a good time to update your address and phone number in the system, if you have had any recent changes.

When enrolling in a new benefit in the iSolved system there are a couple benefits you will need to complete forms for. Links to those forms, which you can fill and submit during the process, will appear to the right of each benefit. Those items requiring a form are:

  • New short-term or long-term disability enrollments.
  • Changes in the coverage amount or beneficiary of life insurance (guaranteed issue for amounts up to $100,000 for employee or $50,000 for spouse, but still require the form)
  • New enrollment in an FSA or HSA account (no form needed if you are just changing amounts but have had an account before, form IS required for first time users of these benefits)

If you change your TIAA (403b retirement) election you will need to complete and email the 403b salary deferral form ( here ) to hr@hendrix.edu

It is assumed that you wish to KEEP any benefit in which you are enrolled (eg. Unum Long-term Care) that does not appear in your open enrollment process due to system limitations.

Our Transition to Symetra for Disability, Life, Critical Illness and Accident Policies

Several of our supplemental benefit plans will transition to Symetra.  If you have, or are interested in, one of the impacted policies please read this section.

AFLAC plans for Critical Illness, Accident and Cancer will no longer be available at Hendrix.  Any employees who have current Critical Illness and Accident enrollments with AFLAC will be transitioned to the equivalent Symetra plans, but can contact Human Resources if they prefer to remain with AFLAC and be directly billed by AFLAC for that coverage.  If you would like to transition to Symetra, you will simply continue to elect that benefit again in your online open enrollment and the automatic transition will occur.  AFLAC Cancer plans will no longer be offered, and any employee with that coverage who would like to continue coverage will need to transition to direct payment with AFLAC.  Note that cancer IS covered by the Critical Illness Insurance plan, though the coverage is different from the current AFLAC Cancer plans. If you have questions or need assistance continuing AFLAC coverage please contact hr@hendrix.edu or schedule an appointment at the bottom of this page.

If you have short-term and/or long-term disability coverage with Mutual of Omaha you will automatically be transitioned to Symetra and no new forms are necessary, simply choose to continue with that coverage when making your online open enrollment as you would if no change in carrier was occurring.  You will see a decrease in your premium. New enrollments in either of these plans will require evidence of insurability forms, so please complete those if you are adding either of these benefits.

Employee Basic (Hendrix provided at no cost to employees) and voluntary life insurance will both be transitioned to Symetra. You do not need to take action beyond selecting to continue enrollment in the online open enrollment process, no additional forms are needed. The coverage provided by the College will remain in effect, only changing providers.  It is a good time to update your beneficiary to ensure that your current designation is accurate (we use the last form you completed) and you may do so by completing that form in iSolved during the open enrollment process.  This year, since we have a new provider, you have the option to add or increase life insurance coverage up to $100,000 for employees and $50,000 for spouses without any evidence of insurability paperwork, but you do need to complete the form in iSolved to have that change processed with the carrier.

Benefit summaries and more information about the Symetra benefits are available here.

As a reminder: Preventative health coverage improvements: Changes in IRS regulations in 2019 have enabled us to expand the prescription benefit of the Qualified High Deductible Plan to allow for coverage of certain preventative care items prior to meeting your deductible. Please see the list below for the items now available at a co-pay prior to meeting your deductible on the QHDHP plan. (These items were already covered, but QHDHP plan participants had to pay out-of-pocket for the cost until reaching their deductible prior to 2020. This information is just meant to serve as a helpful reminder of that change. For those on the Core plan these items remain covered at the co-pay amount associated with the specific item).  Additionally, several procedures have been added to the preventative care list for both plans, meaning they will be covered at 100%.  The list of recently added preventative care items is also found below.
